Altea is the best place for cycling, with many mountain bike trails and cycling routes. Thousands of cyclists head to the north of the Costa Blanca region to enjoy mountain trails or rides along the beaches.

Departing from the Ciclotel Point SH Villa Gadea, 5-star cycling hotel at the Mediterranean Sea, you can decide either to go straight into the mountains after just 4-5 km, or you can choose to go in the North direction heading for Calpe and Benissa, where you will encounter a hilly area. Car traffic will last for about 9 km and then the roads become quiet. Team Astana says that it's the best area for a road cycling training camp, and our hotel in Altea accommodates 3 - 4 world pro teams and 2 pro MTB teams returning every year, there's a reason why they choose Altea!

Mountain biking
From Ciclotel Point SH Villa Gadea you can go straight into the forest and mountains, or you can cycle up to La Nucia, where you'll find numerous mountain bike tracks, that are perfect for the beginners as well as World Cup quality tracks.

Triathlon Athletes
Altea is a great place for the basic training period for road cycling, running and swimming. If you want to swim in the Mediterranean Sea, you only have to exit through the garden door of your Ciclotel Point Hotel, but you will need a wetsuit in winter time as the water only reaches about 14º C. Altea itself has a semi Olympic indoor swimming pool, just 10 minutes away from the hotel. Alternatively, you can cycle up to La Nucia which boasts of a Spanish Olympic training center, it's a fantastic set up with everything a Triathlon Athlete will need.

Altea is ranked as one of the most beautiful towns in Costa Blanca, with 2 very famous landmarks. The church with the blue roof in the old town, and the beautiful boulevard by the sea. This stretches from Altea to Albir with plenty of restaurants and bars to choose from.

Altea has a variety of culture. This includes many exhibitions, live concerts and cultural events all year round. This is one of the main reasons that it has proudly become " the cultural and creative capital of the Costa Blanca".

The history of Altea is determined by the many civilizations that have settled here over the years, namely Iberians, Greeks, Phoenicians, Romans, and Muslims who left their homelands to make their mark.
At this point, Altea's population is 22.500, whom 50% are foreigners, being mainly Dutch, Russians and Norwegians.
Altea boasts of a large, varied open-air market every Tuesday.
