Corona virus: Current state of affairs.

Wherever you’re travelling, it's important to take out comprehensive travel insurance before you go.

Update 24/11/2020

Travel is subject to entry restrictions

From 23 November, all passengers (including children of all ages) travelling to Spanish airports and ports from "risk" countries (the list of ‘at risk’ countries is at the end), as determined by the European Centre for Disease Prevention & Control will be required to present a negative PCR (swab) test taken within no more than 72 hours prior to arrival, in order to enter the country. You should arrange to take a private test.

You will also be subject to the additional three requirements at the point of entry:

  • it is mandatory for all passengers travelling by air or sea to Spain to fill out and sign an online Health Control Form, 48 hours prior to travel, providing the Spanish Ministry of Health with:
  • contact information;
  • details of any known history of exposure to COVID-19; and
  • confirmation that you are able to provide evidence (electronically or hardcopy) that you have undertaken a PCR (swab) test within 72 hours of arrival and have tested negative for COVID-19.

You can do this on the Spain Travel Health website or downloadable app. On completion, you will be issued a personal and non-transferable QR code which you must show (electronically or hard copy) at airport health controls on arrival.

  • temperature check
  • undergo a visual health assessment

Overland travellers to Spain are exempt from the above mentioned entry requirements and are therefore not currently required to present a PCR test or Health Control Form on entry by road or rail.

Update 26/7/2020

Despite everything, it is currently beautiful in Costa Blanca!

In everything we take into account the locally applicable measures and protocols for the tourism industry.

Dear guests,

First of all, we would like to express our gratitude to all our guests in this place. Not only do we respond sympathetically to the Corona voucher*, but we also receive many personal expressions of support during these difficult times. Also a word of thanks to our hotels - partners for their trust, support and belief in cycling fun.

From the beginning of our existence, we have committed ourselves 100% to personal service, good quality and maximum cycling pleasure. And that is exactly the way we look to the future. The Corona crisis is not easy for anyone, but we trust that we will come out of this and that we will soon be able to create new cycling memories on cycling paradise, together with you.

We will keep you as well as possible informed of developments. Below you can read the most current state of affairs.

The Corona virus (COVID-19) has a major impact on everyone's life. In Spain measures are being taken to contain the Corona virus for the second time.

We keep a close eye on developments. We cancel all trips until September 2020.

In collaboration with hotels, we offer all guests with a start date for their journey from September 2020:

Free rebooking of the trip to a date later this or 2021 year. Any price differences are for the benefit of the guest, or for the account of the guest. We will talk to the hotel with every rebooking and see if any additional costs can be limited. For maximum flexibility, we are extending our fall season this year to the period from September to end of December.

We use the email address travel@ciclotel.com to communicate with our guests about the solution that best suits each guest. We do our best to process rebookings as quickly as possible and to send the vouchers as soon as possible.

Stay healthy and hopefully we will see each other again in better times in Spain.

Sincerely yours,

Team Ciclotel Travel

* Background information about the Corona  voucher:

The current Corona crisis has a magnitude and an economic impact that has not yet occurred in post-war history. The travel industry is one of the hardest hit, because currently no trips can be made and there are hardly any trips booked. This poses enormous financial problems to the travel industry. Many costs have already been paid in advance.

Normally you are entitled to a full refund of your travel sum by law, if the travel organization cancels your trip. This law that protects you as a traveler is not feasible for travel organizations in this situation. There is no money to refund the canceled trips now. If travelers now claim their money, travel organizations fall over, employees are on the street en masse and many guests are duped.

As a solution to this impasse travel industry organization have taken the initiative to introduce the Corona voucher. This voucher ensures that the traveler is not duped. After all, he retains the right to a future trip, to the value of the paid travel sum. And on the other hand, the voucher prevents travel companies from falling over by the obligation to repay all booked trips. Due to its great social importance, the Corona voucher has also received approval from the Ministry of Economic Affairs and the Authority for Consumers and Markets.
